The Plate Tree.

A full run of plates from 5 to 55 kg, trimmed in brass, on a timber tree that stands against the wall or free in the room — and makes a barbell set look like it belongs in the house.

Olympic weight-plate tree in light wood with brass-edged plates

Plates are the loudest, ugliest thing in most gyms. Ours are edged in brass, held on turned timber pegs, and arranged so the set reads as a single vertical line.

The tree is built to carry real load: pegs are through-jointed into a solid hardwood spine, and the base is sized so a fully loaded tree stays put.

The workshop

Wood, because it lasts.

Material

Solid hardwood, joined and oiled. No veneer, no MDF, no plastic. It takes knocks, and it takes a sanding and a fresh coat of oil a decade from now.

Hardware

Brass and steel where the piece needs to pivot, lock or carry load. Fitted by hand, and replaceable without replacing the piece.

Lifetime

Every piece is made to be repaired, not replaced. It is the quiet reason our builds carry roughly one-fifth the carbon of a commercial-grade fit-out.

Pairs with

The Squat Rack

Compound movements, quietly, within refined interiors.

The Rack

Dumbbells, medicine balls and a long bar, arranged for ease.

The Adjustable Bench

Solid ash, brass hinges, six positions.

Questions

Frequently asked.

Are the plates Olympic standard?

The set is built around a standard 50 mm Olympic bar. Tell us the bar you train with and we will size the plates and pegs to it.

Can it hold more than 55 kg per side?

The standard run is 5–55 kg. Larger sets and heavier plates are built to order, with the spine and base sized to the load.

Wall-side or freestanding — which should I choose?

Wall-side keeps the footprint smallest; freestanding lets the tree sit beside a rack or bench. We decide it with you on the floor plan.

How long does a plate tree take?

Made to order in our London workshop. Lead time is confirmed with your quotation and usually sits within the build window of a full project.
